Whenever it comes to longevity in tattooing there is a number of factors that contribute to a tattoo lasting a long time. Application plays the biggest rule at the end of the day. If an artist is experienced in a style they're more likely to be knowledgeable about the healing process for their tattoos in that style. As a very broad idea black and gray tattoos tend to have more longevity overall but in contrast to that statement if you look at heavily saturated colorful American/Japanese tattoos they have incredible longevity as well. There's a fine line as an artist to achieving a correct level of saturation that plays into any tattoo and that's why the experience an artist has for what they are doing matters the most.
